Another new member from Sydney, Australia

Postby Alfaholic » Sun May 31, 2015 8:01 am

Hi

Sydney must be the place to be for new members.

I have been viewing for a while getting ideas and information from the Forum , so though I should become official.

While the signature may give away that Italian cars are my thing - I have a healthy respect for any manufacturer that spends the time and resources on long term commitments to international motorsport.

I am definitely on the "numbers" side of the fence with Alfas and Ferraris from Le Mans and F1 with side streams in Mille Miglia winners and Australian touring car racers from the 70s & 80s, when we had good variety, making up most of the collection.

My collection has been going for over 25 years and started off being a bit more open, but as I have become more aware of the vast variety available I have been concentrating on the above streams over the past few years - helps the wallet as well.

Thanks for accepting my membership and once I have worked out how to upload photos I will see about being more of a contributor instead of just looking!

Cheers
Martin

Hi Martin, welcome to the forum.
I have noticed you here quite often, was hoping you would speak up.

Perhaps this may help with the pictures?

Welcome Martin. It's always appreciated when a 'lurker' takes the next step to become an active member of the forum.

There's a few Aussies here, myself included, and a very healthy appreciate for Italian classics. I had a 1964 Giulia GT and a 2010 3.2 V6 GT in Perth before I left for Dubai in early 2013. Sadly both are now just memories in 1:43.

Welcome to the forum Martin
Andy

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

welcome aboard from across the ditch. touring cars from the 70s/80s are cool, I have very few but mainly cos my numbered cars are of the wankel variety.

Thanks for the messages guys and the support of numbers and Italian subjects! Also, thanks to Jeff for the link to setting up photos, I will try to work this out soon - am not the most techo person around.

I'm not sure yet as to how to reply to individual messages, but here goes:

Jager: Nice Alfa history - not to mention a very envious collection form the best race of all. My own Alfa history stepped up a gear 2 months ago with a new Giulietta QV arriving - it is a fine automobile.

Johan: I have looked at your collection - very impressive.

Lars: I hope your collection includes a Moffat RX7

Lee: "West Islander"? I feel a feud coming on - I thought you guys were our 8th State! I did spend some of my early years on the "Mainland" (the South Island of NZ for the non-Antipodeans) so am wise to our cheeky cousins!

Thanks again for the welcome.

Greetings from Florida, USA to greatest international group of gents into scale cars (that I've found at least!)

Many here share your collecting themes and I'll say you have the best screen name I've seen yet 8-)

Welcome to the forum Martin. Another numbers fan here, and your themes all sound of interest.

Replying to other posts by way of 'quoting' is also covered in my FAQ thread that Jeff linked to. Regrettably, the Photobucket tutorial is a little out of date and the screenshots no longer reflect the current version, never mind the apps etc. I really don't have time to update it, but the basic principle remains the same.
