Greetings from Germany

Postby Ralf B. » Fri Jun 26, 2015 11:26 am

Hello Everyone,

just joined Scale143 and want to give you an idea of what I am doing in our scale.

I started collecting diecast 1:43 models about 1985, was a "U.S. Ford only" collector then
and from the beginning I was focused on cars from 1930 to 1950.

My first models were Ford V8 vans and passenger cars by Eligor and Rextoys which I detailed with kitchen aluminium foil -
I did not know Bare Metal Foil by then...

In the 1990s I discovered white metal models and bought my first ones - Fords of course

Today I collect models of American cars of all makes and I focus on "big tourers", sedans and roadsters.
Image

Side/sub themes are Police cars, Taxi cabs and a some Nascar / Indy racers.

I almost forgot to mention that I am also a fan of trucks of the Fifties and Sixties -
when I am in the mood to mess around I take one or two and make a conversion...

Well, that's all for the moment - I'll show some more pics when I have uploaded them to Photob.

Hope my introduction was not too lengthily, just wanted to let you know what kind of guy you will have to cope with in future ;)

Cheers
Ralf

Welcome to the forum Ralf
Andy

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

Welcome Ralf. Plenty of admirers in most of your collecting areas. Not sure how long you have been lurking but this thread
http://www.scale143.com/viewforum.php?f=44 is always worth a look to get to know some of us a bit better.

Cheers

Ralf, welcome.
Early Fords, trucks and Indy cars?, sounds like we have a lot of the same interests!

Welcome Ralf. It's a great time to be collector of your main theme what with the recent Matrix and some nice GLMs and beautiful looking new Esvals. They're bargains compared to those old (but still nice) Minimarques that seem to form the backbone of your collection judging by the pic. I'm hoping some of those old MM subjects will be replicated by the resin makers. :)

...and I'm hoping that they will be replicated in white-metal, again :D

@Ralf: lots of wonderful cars! Mid '80s was just the time when I stopped collecting, at that time getting "too old" for playing with toy cars  I wish that I would haven't had such a long interruption in collecting, nowadays I think it is much more difficult to get all the great miniatures from the peak time of the white-metal-mania. Thanks for joining and sharing!
