Hello from Scotland

Postby DavieW » Fri Oct 02, 2015 12:18 pm

Just saying Hi. I currently have a few 1/18 scale models but I'm thinking of thinning them down and going down the 1/43 scale route for better choice and I can display more in my cabinet!

Looking forward to reading through the posts and starting a 1/43 collection.

Hi Davie! Welcome to the forum and looking forward to seeing your collection of 1:43 growing. Any particular theme in mind? Please post the 1:18 cars as well, we have a subforum for that.

Welcome to the forum

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

Welcome to the world's best 1:43 diecast collectors forum. I was in Edinburgh last month and visited a big model/toy shop in the Lothian Road and was disappointed to see how few 1:43 diecasts they had.

That'll be Wonderland Models. There's Harburn Hobbies in Leith Walk that used to have a better selection but I haven't been in for a while.

Halò Davie. Fàilte - Welcome to the Forum. You're absolutely correct about the two major benefits of collecting 1:43rd scale...

    1. Much greater choice. I collect race cars only, and swapped from 1:18th because there is a much greater selection of Le Mans, GTs, CanAm, etc, available in 1:43rd scale.
    2. More models on display. This was another reason why I made the change. I can display quadruple the number of models in the same amount of space.

Good luck with your 'downsizing'.

Welcome Davie, there's plenty of us here with a bit of Scottish blood.

I never went down the 1:18th path......a bit like I'm glad I never took up smoking.

Welcome.

Switching to 1:43 from 1:18 is a path I took and that conversion is the reason this forum exists.

What sort of cars interest you?

I'm looking to start with 70s and 80s road cars - Escorts, Fiestas, 205 GTis, Mantas etc.

The 80's road cars was my original plan too but then it went all over the place, now I have cars from 1940's to present day :D
Looking forward to see your collection growing :)

Welcome and good luck with that... ;)
We all had solid themes at one point, and then the rest of the lot here
dangled one pretty little car after another...
You can imagine the result.
You'll fit right in.

Hi Davie, good to have you here. I too switched from 1:18 to 1:43 about 12 years ago and I'm glad I did. Wife isn't irritated that much.
