Hello from Scotland

Post by mininuts » Fri Jan 15, 2016 9:22 am

Hello everyone!
Just thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm Paul from Newton Stewart, SW Scotland, I've been collecting die casts since about 1988, mainly Minis and Metros. I collected any scale of any make and had around 900 different models.
I've recently thinned out my collection and now concentrate on 1/43rds and older Corgi and Dinky.
Still collecting proper Minis, (pre 2000), but also Metros/6R4s and other BMC/BL/Rover products including ZT/75s, 1100/1300s and variants. Also got a few Lotus/Caterham 7s, love those too :D

Look forward to contributing to the forum.
Paul

Welcome to the forum Paul

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

Welcome Paul! While I don't have any mini models yet, I did have a 1970 Mini irl (a red one) a while back ago which was a very enjoyable hobby car. I am sure you will find people with similar interest and scope here at 1:43. :)

Welcome aboard the forum.
Minis I have a few, yellow corgi and solidio, mr bean with white metal figurine(1/40?) and 1/18 Kyosho white. My favourite movie of all time is a kiwi one " Goodbye Pork Pie " featuring a yelliw mini slowly dismantled and midified on a trip fron North to South, Have you seen it?

In my childhood, bloke across the road had an early model mini (sliding windows and horizontal string pull cord to open doors :D ). They bought new a 1978 Mazda 323 hatch to replace but the mini keep going strong

Hi Paul, welcome from one newbie to another.

Minis, fantastic cars, I am a Rolls-Royce owner, I am just under Six feet tall, I had a 1986-87 Mini Mayfair automatic, I had no problem finding a nice driving position on the front seat and my Head did not touch the roof!

Driving around in my Mini seeing another coming towards me, we would wave or flash headlamps at each other, how many other cars can do that ?

Can't wait to see some pictures of your model Minis.

Welcome. Started my driving career passing my driving test in 1964 on my Scottish Mum's Surf Blue 1:1 1963 Morris Mini De Luxe - cable door handles, on floor starter, huge fun. Then went up a size with Morris and Austin 1100s, MG 1275, and in 1970 a Snowberry White Mini Van so very much a BMC fan for a long time. However Issigonis Mini in 1:43 are Lledo Morris Mini No.1 Old English White, an original Corgi maroon red Austin 7 850, and the later 1:40 Corgi Mini 30 plus the Rover Mini Coopers and last original Mini making 7 in my collection.

I've always found it difficult to accept the BMW Cooper as 'Mini' - only got one IXO - and acceptance is even less these days as it's become even more bloated and ridiculous!

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Nice to see some Mini fans out there :D
A new addition to my collection arrived this morning from Italy. It's a Kess Innocenti Mini Cooper 1300 in brown, 1 of 250, lovely, well detailed model 8-)

Welcome Paul

Mini's featured frequently 'down under' in Australian motor racing. Biante, the former Australian Minichamps and Spark distributor did a nice model of the '66 Bathurst winner which I grabbed and is now quite rare.

I like that Kess Mini a lot. I have a 1:24 Innocenti Mini from a partwork series, love it.

Yes, it's quite an accurate model of a little modelled variation of the Mini, even down to its correct A panel badges. Not sure if Kess are worth the money to be honest but, I'm quite happy with it. They do a red version as well but, I've got that many red Minis, I thought the brown was a nice change :)

That is a lovely model, I've got a Bathurst Mini by Vanguards but, it's not a patch on that one. Another for the wish list
Thanks for showing!

Thank you!
Not sure how I never discovered Scale143 before
I try to keep, (albeit loosely), to a theme with my collecting but, after seeing some of the great models you lot have, it's going to be hard
