Grinbergs' american cars in 1:64 (1976 Pontiac Firebird, 14/11)

Postby grinbergs » Sun Oct 09, 2011 2:13 pm

Besides the collection of italian cars I also have a sidetheme in my collection which is the american cars in 1:64. I try to focus on the cars from the mid 60's to mid 70's and on models from Hot Wheels, Greenlight and Johnny Lightning

And what better way to start this off than with the most classic of the pony cars? So here are the first ones which are a bunch of Mustangs:

Ford Mustang 1965 (Hot Wheels)

Ford Mustang 1968 (Hot Wheels)

Ford Mustang 1969 (Greenlight, Auction Block)

Love the lines and stance on the 65 and also think the 69 is modeled very nicely.

Yes I agree... the Greenlight 1969 Mustang is the only one in this gang really being able to claim to be a scale model... the rest are more toy cars.. but quite charming anyway.. :)

Are you sure the Nova isn't really a Vega instead?

Thank you! I like it very much - I'm looking for a charger '68-'69 now too..

What is nice about the Greenlight cars is that they, though being very small, have engine hoods that you can open and look at a tiny engine. :)

I had a friend with a Torino that looked exactly like your model.
He drove it for a year and then turned it into a oval track car. I helped him cut the roof off and put in a roll cage

Now what does these three last cars share as a common thread? And no... it's not that they are red... 8-)

Well no answers to the question above so I will reveal that the common thread is that the three cars are all from 1970... :)

Now to my last cars for now:

Chevrolet Chevelle SS 69 Hot Wheels

Image

AMC Javelin AMX (Hot Wheels). I just love the slight madness about many of the AMC cars, I will get more of them... ;)

Here is another Javelin AMX, this one is perhaps a better scale model than the Hot Wheels one above

AMC Javeling AMX (Greenlight)

I got this one by the mail today and it feels now that my AMC collection must grow furthermore... :)

Clearly there is a need for more AMC:s - I'll settle for the 1:64 for my needs. It is not a muscle car but it would be cool to get an AMC Pacer... :geek:

You can get a Pacer in high detail 1:43 from Neo.

James Bond Car Collection has a Matador Coupe and a Hornet in budget priced 1:43

Also if you like "white metal" Boss Models makes several '70 Javelins and 43rd Avenue makes several '69 AMXs.

That red Hornet is a car I have been looking at for some time... will surely get that sooner or later. :)

Thanks for the tip, much appreciated! :)
