Unplanned hospital visit

Re: Unplanned hospital visit

A quick update - we checked out on Tuesday and things are far crazier than I ever would have expected. I think by next week we'll have a good schedule sorted out. The baby is doing quite well but it's not even been a week yet so we just pray that she gets a little stronger each day.

Also, thanks everyone for making this a place I can come to and unwind even if it's only a few minutes a day. It's so nice to be part of a forum where it still just about cars & collecting!

So glad to hear that Calla is doing well. Is Mom feeling more herself?
Things are crazy? what else would you expect with a new baby
Better you than me my friend :D

Happy that you can find a few minutes to relax, I am sure they are few and far between.

She's slowly starting to feel that way but, my goodness, if I went through what she did I probably would have died. :o
It's the logistics of traveling to & from the hospital every day that is a challenge. :( It's so much easier to just bring them home.

Yes, the back and forth is very tiring.
Oh well, in a couple of weeks this will all seem like a lifetime ago.

We will be thinking about all of you.

Good to read that everything is good Douglas

All the best

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

All the world's roads have potholes. We also have pothumps. This is where the local council drops a slightly too large dollop of tarmac into the hole and then lets passing traffic finish the job.

Things are getting better - but no less crazy. Calla has moved to what is called 'special care' and it's basically a private hospital room where the parents can stay all day and night with the child. So, just when we got a routine down for the ICU Nursery we need to figure out a new one.

She's slowly gaining weight and needs to get used to eating so the feeding tube can be removed. Kind of unfair in a way since she has to figure it out about 4 weeks before a full-term baby. Once she's eating good and apnea-free she can come home. I know we will all finally be back home together before I know it!

Always nice to hear good news. Sounds like she is doing exactly what she needs to do.
Hopefully she will be home soon.

Well - it's been almost a month now and Calla continues to get better. I expect she will be home within the next 2 weeks!

Thanks again, everyone, for your kind words throughout this experience. I hope the next post is me letting y'all know she is home. :D

So much for coming home in the next 2 weeks. ;)

Anyway, finally some good news. Baby Calla will be coming home with us today and I am just so happy/excited/relieved. It's been an incredibly stressful 2 months with a lot of ups and downs. The downs were the worst. No one should have to see their baby stop breathing, lose their color and go limp when they're holding them. I think some day I'll have a good cry about all of this but for now I'm just so happy she's finally coming home. :D

Thanks again everyone for your kind words, thoughts, prayers, etc. And thanks for making this a place I love to drop by every day.
