BoS Models

Post by Rat » Thu Apr 17, 2014 6:04 pm

What am I missing? This model is resin, very nicely detailed with nice chrome for only $38 (incl. VAT) at MCW. I wonder if it's as nice up close as it is in the pic.

thing is you won't get any better for that money. If there is a cut back in quality on the oter hand then this is the begining of the PW reisin models: same models in 2 qualityes only that this time is in reisin. For me this looks nice i will risk it since i wanted the car from matrix anyway.

...Matrix made a much more expensive version of this car, in at least two different colours... :o

I wonder if I should have waited! :?

Perhaps it comes in a cheaper to produce normal sized box that's just the right size for the model rather than some enormous fish tank that seems to be the norm now.

So someone is refinishing Matrix models? Now that's a head scratcher? How does one 'improve' a Matrix? Eyeing that '92 Seville, perhaps that's an entirely new effort?

Times are good right now for collectors of 1:43 American cars, so long as their wallets are thick

Well, "refinished" is my interpretation. They are a product of the MCW empire so some of the models appear to be refinished Matrix models at a more wallet friendly price though it's hard to see any reduction in quality or detailing as far as I can see. Some of the cars are brand new while others such as the Chrysler Ghia look to be almost the same as the regular Matrix but in a new colour.

Count me in for the Audi Quattro Spyder and Lotec Sirius! I HOPE they jump in seriously and release loads of new interesting cars. The price is just ridiculous, 33-35 euros!!! Half of resin MC price, 40% cheaper than Spark or NEO and not to speak of Matrix.

BTW, as far as I know Matrix is a company created by EX owners of NEO (Jaap van Dijk) (which was sold to MCW), anyway it would be good that somebody compared those "same" models to see if it is the same mould or a different one.

...I doubt that I'll buy any more Matrix models at their very high prices, having the option of BoS to release a similar model at much more civilised prices! :?

Audi Quattro and Cadillac Seville look most interesting for me. I was amazed to see the prices for 1/43 BoS models, very wallet friendly compared to other resin models. BoS 18th scale models look also quite tempting.

I have just had a MCW catalog in post and the models do look good although the cadillac devilles window surround looks very plastic and toy like in the picture I have in front of me. But may buy there Chrysler SS with a new theme, of I bought it Just because.

quite a few of those have a rezerved spot on my shelves since i saw them from matrix. I got the chrysler SS, and compared to detailed pics of the one from matrix(they say one year difference between them and the matrix is called new yorker) and i noticed some minor differences: the chromed line on the sides is PE on the matrix and painted on the bos(works for me because i am not afraid anymore it will come with a flaw there), and the badge on the trunk(the matrix has an extra one). Other than that is the very same model, beautiful and cheap and i will get more, especially the RR and americans.
LE. not to forget the windows: they don't come with PE frames but with a very nice solution to that : hot stamping of the frame in the interior of the windows, that way eliminating the posibility of bad sticking of the pieces as we are used. In my opinion thas an interesting option, an acceptable compromise for almost 50 euros difference in price.

My Chrysler has arrived to it's nice a small flaw with the photo etch round the window but not that noticeable haven't had a matrix so can't compare. But for value this is great, will be adding more.
