I thought the blue GT-R would look the best but I like the red/orange one even more.

Here's the GT40 #7

I am considering selling the neighbor into white slavery in order to afford that GT40.

I see a handful of sites with pre-order and prices ranging from ¥19,350 to ¥25,920 or ~$156 to ~$209. Not sure how that compares to the 787B.

The Mazda 787s I've seen on ebay are listed at $289, I don't know if that's the going rate or an enthusiastic seller.

I can only see them being more expensive on eBay because they are Porsches.

Personally I prefer this car as everyone else (ie Ebbro, Minichamps, Top Model and Exoto in 1:18) has modelled it with the black wheel covers.

That's not to say the Makeup is incorrect - over the 24 hours in 1976 it appeared with wheel covers on both front and back wheels, just the front wheels and with no wheel covers. Other than that the detailing looks fantastic.

Some of those GT-R's have been available on eBay for a bit now but at $250 and our sinking Dollar, I'm going to pass on those... for now.

Ebbro modeled it both with all wheels covered and with just the fronts. I have the one with the mismatched wheel covers. It's always more interesting when it visually tells a story.

I agree, but it would benefit the makers to show a picture of the car in the race with that configuration. I have bought several sports cars and later found photographs that contradict what's on my shelf. Cars changed between presentation, practice and during the race. If all you know is the model on your shelf and you see a photo that's different, then you think the maker did a poor job modelling the car. I am now working on a Le Mans Ferrari transfiguration. The decal sheet and existing diecasts of this car have a large oil company decal prominently displayed but I can't find any photo that supports that, and I'm puzzled about when various pictures were taken.

The car in question is the 1968 Paul Vestey Ferrari 250LM and the question is whether any decals were on the roof pillar during the race. Or maybe only on one side. The livery was unlikely to change mid-race as the roof is not a repair item. The car did not run Test Day as far as I know. From what I can determine, this was the only race where the car wore #19. The contingency decals behind the door remained stable but the Castrol and Cibie decals are fluid. I've decided to model mine with the Cibie decal but am up in the air about the Castrol one. I think it detracts from the design but want to be accurate.

I think the 'Castrol' roundels were a late addition before the race (ie missing in practice). I posted a picture in your "What Bus is This" thread that showed the Castrol livery on the left pilar and I think you can see it in the last B/W picture you posted above. I'd assume it wason both sides of the car, even though there is no specific evidence indicating it was there.

The same thing happened with the 1968 #6 Lola T70. You see shots of that with and without the Castrol decal and it would appear Castrol was throwing some money around before the race.
