New collection being released "Genuine Ford Parts"

Postby JSB33 » Thu Feb 26, 2015 9:36 am

New high detail (I believe they are resin) Fords will be released starting in April. There will be 3 colors per car, the Starliner and the Ranch Wagon will come before the Cougar.
They are also coming in a box that looks like a Ford Garage.

The boxes are extremely clever! Cars nice too - may be interested at the right price point?

I think the Starliner is brilliant. I see one coming here as its one of my favorite big Fords.

While the wagon is intriguing, I want to see the final product before deciding as the roofline looks a bit low to me.

The Cougar looks like it needs some work, you can tell its the farthest away from production.
"A" pillars and the entire roof and much of the body are wonky but I am giving it a pass for now as these are early pics.

I don't think the rims on the Starliner are accurate but it looks OK, unlike the Cougar with its chopped top and massive A-pillars. The wagon could still turn out good. If the prices are reasonable, these could be interesting.

Wow.

I was just thinking about a red and white 1959 Ford station wagon today. The '60 Starliner looks really good BUT PLEASE let it be made with factory correct wheels! So who is the manufacture?

I'd love to see a '60 Sunliner too.

Someone was obviously watching this forum a few months back when I (& Jeff) suggested 1960 Starliner was missing from 1:43 US Ford line ups. Unfortunately the 'hand sample' shown is only half a job without the correct wheels and... this won't bother too many, but it does bother me, it's resin rather than die cast metal. The awkward gap where the windscreen doesn't fit in the corner shouts resin and flimsy to me. They've cheated with putting on a set of wheels from the 1968 Cougar as well...! Sorry but on first look it won't be coming to my collection.

Jeff is right too about the Cougar and the Wagon being almost there but not quite. If whoever is producing these models is aiming at the collector market (and not glorified made down to a cheap price point 'toys') they've got to try just a bit harder than this. Nearly is not good enough for a mature collecting audience.

Spend less money on the fancy box and more on the product inside. Jeff, do you have more info on who is making them? although if April is the launch date we are already too late to bring any influence to make these new items 100% right....

Perhaps IXO/White Box will be watching as they already have half the casting existing for the Country Squire Estate (No whitewalls or proper chrome wheel covers either :( ) and will give us a nice diecast metal Starliner?

The cars will be branded "Genuine Ford Parts" from what I understand. As to what plant is making them, I do not know. The principals do have plenty of diecast experience under their belt.
I am just not sure how much I am allowed to disclose so I am erring on the side of caution.

I hope some of the issues are resolved, keep in mind that these are early pre production pics.
The wheels on the Starliner should be an easy fix, the Wagon looks very interesting, like I said, I think the roof is low but it may be one of those things that look better in the hand than in pics. Besides that it looks really good and looks ready to go.
Image

The Cougar looks like a miss so far. I hope that the car shown is just a mock up because to me, it looks nothing like a Cougar, its missing all its elegance.
I have some pics of it in the other colors but unless someone wants to see them, I won't bother posting.

I also know of the other colors for the Starliner and the Wagon, as soon as I get the ok I will pass that info along.

Ian, you can be certain that makers are reading the site. This I know.
And when it rains, it pours. Brooklin will soon be releasing a Starliner.

It's about time, I've had their Sunliner now for many years, at least 20. I will most likely get one of each of them Starliners. Thanks for posting the info, Jeff.

The Ranch Wagon looks pretty good to be, EXCEPT the wheel covers are neither the deluxe or the plain jane style and the bump on the roof looks exaggerated to me.

Image1959 Ford Country Sedan (USA) by IFHP97, on Flickr

The front end of the Ranch Wagon is by far the best 1:43 '59 Ford front end that I've seen to date.

On the '60 Starliner, they need to add the three stars on the "C" pillar. Also, on the two-tone models, the "C" pillars are the same color as the body, not the roof.

I hope that Jeff is able to communicate our criticisms - we are a very discerning crowd after all - to the folk who are marketing these models. We all want them to be a success and not 'half baked' products. I suspect it won't make him Mr Popular but at least it shows there's more than a few collectors taking interest and who want them to get it right!

Just an idle thought but could we also be seeing a future 'Forum' model in the making.....? If we are, it'll be even more important to get the real deal from day 1. 8-)

I don't really have any input beyond posting what I think here. I was simply passed some information.
But I do hope the people involved do take on board that there is interest and a market for well done models of this genre. But there is little interest in collecting premium models that miss the mark. Some of the smaller details (that really should be taken care of) while not deal breakers, do throw cold water on the offerings but cars that out visibly flawed (like the Cougar in its present state) are dead in the water and can affect the credibility of future releases.

Ian, its not that maker

Well if this company is interested in doing 3 Chevrolets, these are my picks:

1966-67 Chevy II Nova SS327

1968-69 Chevelle SS396

1962-63 Chevy Impala SS

Due out in August.
Wheels on the Starliner have been amended to stock although the look is somewhat muted by the omission of whitewall tires.
The Steel Blue Ranch Wagon looks awesome.

Who will distribute them? Is this a Ford dealer item or will they go out to normal diecast vendors? Will they be marketed as Ford Garage brand or under an existing banner like Premium-X or Neo? Are you allowed to say who is the manufacturer behind the scenes? I hope they aren't Minichamps. I think that company has screwed up every American car they've made.

I am guessing they will be available from many diecast dealers, who ever wants to sell them. The distributor is U.S. based for the brand.

This is the brand name "Genuine Ford Parts"
