Here´s a sneak peak of my current diorama project, it's about 50% finished so far... :)

Looks very promising Magnus. This is exactly the sort of thing I'd like to make. Was wondering how best to go about it, but I like the idea of the grid - gives an excuse for the driverless cars, and a perfect background scene too.

Where did you get the railings (the fence between the racetrack and the spectators/ garage)

The railing is made of single face fibre board like this, just painted it in silver. :D

Very cool diorama :) Good idea of using that cardboard for the fence.
Did once a road for 1/18 scale with a railing and tried to carve the railing from MDF but it didn't come out very well. I might try the cardboard solution someday ;)

Looks fantastic!
And a big thank you for the tip of using the cardboard. I was searching ebay for a month looking for some sort of guardrail.
As usual, a simple method works best.

My hat's off to you guy. I was a Design Engineer in my previous life and that is an ingenious idea. Thanx for the tip! Remember the K-I-S-S method is always the best (Keep-It-Simple-Stupid).

I don't have to be concerned with curving the fence as most of my diecasts travel best in a straight line. ;)

Thrust me, I've also looked for a long time to find something that would look like Armco barriers in the 1/43 scale.
I've even tried fan belts made for car generators, but so far cardbox has worked best for me.

The ones´s from Denizen Miniatures are very beautiful, but would cost a fortune for my dio:

Here's a photo showing a bit more of the not so finished diorama:

It still looks very good, can hardly wait to see the finished work.
In this case, well begun looks to more than half done. :D

It is also something that you can use with many types of model....
Again, great work Magnus!

Started adding some more details to the diorama, most of them are just temporary, until I have decided the final look:

Thanks Jeff, never thought creating fire extinguishers in 1/43 could be so relaxing. :D

It does look cool! I hope he left 2 long strips of rubber on the pavement with that one.

:D I just had to try, the "smoke" is intented for another diorama, not even sure those WTCC cars have 4-wheel drive...

Used synthetic wool for aquarium filters, but will have to paint it for the upcoming dio.. :?

The smoking tyres photo looked so fun I had to give it a try myself :D Had the Samara on hand and placed it to the road I made + ripped some white wool from the Q-tips and here's the result, made it shaky image on purpose so it looks like the car is moving :D
