Mercedes 350SL (R107) fitted with 15 hole alloy wheels

Post by AdamYip » Tue Dec 06, 2016 6:09 am

I've always loved the R107 especially the final facelifted version with the 15 hole rims. Minichamps only made an early R107, so I set out to do a wheel swap with my W126. I was able to find a set of steel wheel with wheel covers for the W126 and made the W126 looked special too.

Here's the W126 with the wheel covers:

The wheels that came off from the R107 were put onto my W115 I got earlier:

I really hope to see that the R107 being made in the American version also. This is how I remembered seeing the car in the film "Beverly Hills Cops".

Cheers,
Adam

When I was collecting 1:24, the blue SL was a very rare and expensive piece. It looks just as good in 1:43 and your wheel conversion helps all the cars out in the looks dept.

Was it the expensive Franklin Mint R107 you got?

I remembered building a 1/12 Mercedes 450SL (R107) & a 450SLC (C107) made by a Japanese manufacturer called Doyusha when I was a teenager. But that wasn't too accurate.

Adam

Nice conversion Adam, I have always wanted Minichamps to do the later version SL with those wheels.
