Minichamps Race Touareg Dakar '05

Minichamps Race Touareg Dakar '05

Postby Chris Sweetman on Thu Jul 29, 2010 5:45 pm

The real vehicle was placed 3rd in the 2005 Dakar rally driven by Kleinschmidt and Pons.

This Minichamps model is 1:43rd scale and is number 436 055310. I used a Nikon D200 with a Nikon 105mm VR macro lens mounted on a tripod to gain sufficient depth of field. The location selected was the great outdoors using natural light. :)

Top notch stuff Chris. These Dakar vehicles are pretty cool, and the photos work brilliantly. Very jealous of your 105 macro too!

Thanks guitardave_1 - I had to save long and hard for that macro lens. I feel the cost has been with it given the results obtained.

I have this one for a few months now chr15. I bought it at TKMaxx for the princely sum of £4.99. Great model at a great price.

Got to love the TKMaxx deals. That's very little money for that model. Anyone would have been tempted!

It was the price that caught my eye guitardave_1 and that led me into temptation! :)

BTW when next in TKmaxx check out their book department. I have got some real bargain car related books their at prices cheaper than Amazon. But it doesn't happen every time one goes. :(

I find myself checking out Tackymaxx every two weeks or so after they had the HPI's and Minichamps Dealer cars.

Great add , i nearly bought the plain blue one from there but resisted.

Thanks CraigyGT and I did very well when they had the HPI's - got two of the resin ones! I saw these in a model shop for £149.99! Got them for £39.99 each!

Thanks klauzephoto for your positive comments regarding my photos. Minichamps have produced a range of this model with different numbers and also one in plain finish.

What livery is your model chr15b? I am still deciding whether to get the plain blue version.

Before I say anything else, beautiful photos Chris!

One thing I never noticed about my own Minichamps Touareg until I saw your pictures is that they do not have the 'Euromilhões' and 'Total' text on the car number placards. My Norev and Atlas versions do so I wonder why Minichamps' doesn't? It sounds silly but the more I look at that the more it just bugs me. :?

Thanks Douglas appreciate your comments.

Yeah it bugs me too when a company with Minichamps reputation drops clangers like the ones you have mentioned!
