Is this the one ?

Two of these have been sold on eBay by Rallymodels in the last couple of months (GBP 60), but while his auction titles says 1979, the base plate on the display cases says 1978 ?

It looks like this is a Code 3 piece from Rallymodels, not from Trofeu themselves.

Perhaps try contacting the seller.

Code 3 means that a model has been changed completely from how it left the factory (Code1). For instance the Escort may have been a standard red road car in the manufacturer packaging when the person bought it from the shop. But decides he then wants to make it a replica rally car. So he strips the red paint, adds moulded wheel arches then repaints the body white, adds home made or bought decals to turn it into a replica rally car and displays it as such.

When the person decides he no longer wants that car he can't sell it as an original as that would be misleading so has to describe it as Code 3 one off, or customised.

Thank you for your helpful notes.
That means as the above pictured model described as a limited to 50 models only can be of a valuable price?

The value depends on how you view a non-factory item that an individual/organisation has produced as 50 off 'tribute' copies.

You can only hope that in future Trofeu don't produce their own official version at half the price....

Code 3's such as this are typically more expensive as they tend to be specialist subjects built in small runs which require more upfront investment and less economies of scale than larger factory runs. What I can say without doubt is that Andy at rallymodels.co.uk makes high quality code 3s. I have a number of his and all are excellent.

I agree completely.
Andy

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.
