At first glance it looks to bear up well when compared to the Spark 2005 Le Mans version.

It does. Spark's R8 is an earlier model of theirs, and they have come on a fair way since then. The Minichamps is a solid choice and captures the real thing well - all my Le Mans winning R8s are the MC version.

Tameo Sauber C12 - Lehto German GP 1993

Postby raystaggs » Mon Dec 09, 2013 4:16 pm

I've found the reason my 1/43 Minichamps C12 Sauber F1 car is missing - I'm pretty sure I traded it once I bought this Tameo version.
I bought it made, but since the whole collection has been in storage it's suffered somewhat - a missing wing mirror and a detached front wing.... Still this didn't stop me messing about with the new base that arrived yesterday....

This arrived recently - the 1993 C12 Sauber from Minichamps, but it has a different sponsor to the usual 'LIGHTHOUSE' version. :geek:

There are conversion decals out there, but it's going to be a problem tracking them down....

Indeed, but being run by Schitzer, it's still a great livery in my eyes.

Just ordered the decal set I need for the 1993 Benetton B193 Test at Estoril.
The car is on it's way (Minichamps Patrese version) and so hopefully I'll be able to recreate the correct livery/car combo.
I've only got 2 pictures of the car and one of those is black and white!

This will be my first conversion, and after a bit of web reading I understand that the Minichamps decals are one of the easier types to remove.
I have the helmet covered too - a 'spare' B194 Minichamps model to borrow it from...

That's one of my favourite threads of 2013!
Duly scoured - hence the list of test cars in the first post. Cheers for the heads up.

Is this the car he crashed with and caused the big injury or was it the 1994 car?

It was early in 1994. I think it could even be this car at this test -

The pic was gleaned from the interweb and I believe Fosters sponsored the British GP at the time. Also the B193B test car had the KTEL sponsor, whereas later B194's didn't as far as I know. Being testing in Britain - would they have been allowed to run in Ciggy sponsorship livery???
