I've renamed this thread the Tour and Tarmac Events collection. I've been doing a bit of googling and have developed a real interest in the 3 main "Tours". The Giro d'Italia, the Tour de France and the Tour of Britain. The Italian version sees a lot of Prototypes and Group 5 cars appearing in the Road Rally/Circuit events, the Tour de France was a mix of Touring Car and GT/Sports cars in its earlier years, becoming more akin to a road rally event as we moved in to the early 70s. The short lived Tour of Britain was a chance for straight from the forecourt style cars to show their sporting prowess. Other Tarmac only events were often used to test prototypes of forthcoming rally cars - some of the Fiat/Lancia/Alfa cars were the forerunners to some of the group B monsters.

Anyway, some new additions!

Best model, Waldegaard 1984 Rally Monza (3rd place) in a 308 GTB Prototipo
Image

Partswork, Pregliasco 1979 Giro D'Italia (9th place) in an Alfetta GTV Grp 2
Image

Partswork plus bought decals, Darniche 1975 Rally Durance (Winner) in an X 1/9 Prototipo
Image

Partswork, Nicholas 1974 Tour de France (Winner) Ligier JS2
Image

Facetti - Lancia Stratos Group 5 - Winner Giro D'Italia 1976
Biasion/Patrese - Alfa 75 Turbo IMSA - Winner Giro D'Italia 1988
Cerrato - Alfa 75 Turbo Evoluzion - Winner Rally Monza 1989

The Abarth team started to plan a new rally car after the 131 Abarth grp 4 had turned uncompetitive, and were working on the grp B Lancia 037 which was going to have both a supercharger and turbo. Abarth needed a test bench for the new engine, and it was based on 131 and 031 Abarth, although it had a different body and was called the Abarth 035.

Carraramodels Fiat 124 Abarth Proto driven by Giorgio Pianta in the 1973 Giro D'Italia - Pianta was the man behind the Abarth rally programme, and many see him as the genius behind Rohrl and Fiats 1980 World Championship, and the subsequent development of the Lancia 037 and Delta S4. Sadly, Pianta passed away in 2014.

A220 is my favorite out of the latest batch but the Fiat 124 in the previous batch is completely bonkers. I love it!

Really like this selection of racers. Always like seeing a Fiat 131 in competition trim and the two you have here are fantastically mad.

The Martini Alfa looks great. The racing versions of the 155 always looked much cooler than the road version.

Fantastic.

We didn't get the 155 in Australia as a road car and sometimes it is hard to reconcile the race cars with the road cars. No secret they are near the top of my list of favourite race cars.

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

Arrived today and I can't tell you how happy I am to have nabbed this. Spark Porsche 935 which won the Giro D'Italia in 1979. Nice touch with the spare/different front bumper which i'm guessing was required for the roads between stages/circuits.

What an amazing selection of different cars in this thread! I have thoroughly enjoyed myself looking at all of them and there are a few I'd love to add to the collection, but that Spark Porsche 924 Carrera GT is a must-have. Looks great!

Another one to put on your radar! Other sellers are available!

Have a bit of a soft spot for rally/races like the Giro Tour De France D'Auto etc but had to chose between those and a quite specific diversion Pikes Peak due to space limitations. Still like seeing your collection so thanks for posting.
